The Age of Sail ? Brief History

Tall Ships ? the words conjure up a wonderful mix of impressions, square-rigged masts towering giants with sails, rests majestically in the wind, the elegant schooner slide gracefully through the water.

The Age of Sail was the time when they were dominated international trade and naval vessels. It took about 16 to mid-19th Century. It is an important time in the wind sailing shipsEuropean settlers brought in many parts of the world again.

The Age of Sail began on the Battle of Lepanto, 7 Oktober 1571st 5 hours during a battle, the Ottoman fleet of war galleys important during the trip west, they were intercepted and defeated by force Pope Pius V, the Holy League.
